Marieke got angry when she saw a one-sided news report about refugees. That's when she knew she wanted to study communication science. Because the one with the best communication determines perception. During her internship at Vandejong, she stood out because of the passion she brought to her work. We wanted to keep her, but Marieke wanted to go to the Caucasus first. There, she helped to set up an independent media centre that encouraged young Armenians to express their thoughts and ideas on paper, film and the Internet. Helping people and organisations to communicate more effectively is what she continues to do today at Vandejong.
