Vandejongs manifesto for a new world

Manifesto

To stay standing in a changing society, you need long-term vision. You need an undeniable will to achieve something and a full awareness of who you are and who you want to be. The most successful people and the strongest organisations know their own identities through and through. They know what they stand for and can get it across to those around them. But what truly makes them strong is that they mean something to those around them. They are part of a community, built out of a two-way relationship. Meaning and the right to exist go hand in hand with creating value – not only financial value for yourself but also immaterial value for those close to you, your colleagues, your organisation, your clients and, most of all, society. What will you say if someone asks: Are you proud of what you’ve done? How have you inspired the world?

A Book of Beds

The images in A Book of Beds have been selected from the numerous portfolios which were sent to the editors of Foam Magazine in 2009 and 2010 in response to the 'Talent Call'. Each year Foam Magazine invites young photographers to submit work for the annual talent issue. It was striking that many photographers had chosen the bed as the subject of their work. It was thus decided to compile these photos in a book. The multitude of beds allows the viewer to reflect upon the prominent role this spot has in our lives. 'The bed is the place where we sleep, where we make love, where most of us are born and where most of us will die', stated Marcel Feil, editor of the magazine. 'In a certain sense, the bed is a metaphor for life.'
